our story
We built The House of Yay because we got tired of hearing people say "I'm not creative."
We met at school. That story is genuinely too long to tell here, but the short version is: we've been doing life together for a very long time.
After university came an ad agency. We built it, ran it, and learned everything we know about what makes a brand actually connect with people. Then came twins (yes, both at once), and somewhere in the chaos of life, we had an idea.
What if instead of telling people about creativity, we just helped them experience it?
We ran our first creative events out of borrowed venues in 2014. They were crazy, joyful, and completely addictive. People kept coming back, and more importantly, they kept bringing their colleagues. By the time we'd crossed 500 corporate events across South Africa, we knew we needed a proper home for all of it.
So we built one. Right in the heart of Sandton, inside The MARC Centre. Purpose-built for the exact kind of magic we'd been creating in other people's spaces for years.
We're Deon and Salli.
He's the CFO (Chief Fun Officer).
She's the CXO (Chief Experience Officer).
We've never had a quiet day at work, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
We exist to prove that creativity belongs in every workplace, not just the cool ones.

The House of Yay is a purpose-built creative experience venue located in The MARC Centre, Sandton, right in the heart of Johannesburg's corporate corridor.
We run facilitated creative sessions for corporate groups and private celebrations and we've made it our mission to make the whole thing effortless for the person organising it.
